The design and planting of these unique 2.5 acre gardens pay homage to the life journey of Irish writer, Patrick Lafcadio Hearn, from his Victorian childhood in Tramore, to America, and ultimately to Japan where he achieved iconic status through his incomparable descriptions of its people, customs and culture.
Bishops Palace: Treasures of Georgian Waterford, the Bishop’s Palace charts the history of Waterford from 1700 to 1970 and gives a wonderful insight into the history of what was up to the 1750s, Ireland’s second city. Waterford city boasts the finest collection of 18th century architecture of any city in Ireland outside of Dublin and its great legacy from the period is its elegant silverware and, of course, fine glassmaking. Visitors to the Bishop’s Palace will see the oldest piece of Waterford Crystal in the world - a decanter made in the 1780’s.
Reginalds Tower: Treasures of Viking Waterford, situated at the apex of the Viking Triangle in Waterford's historic city centre, Reginald's Tower is home to an exciting exhibition that uses a superb collection of historic and archaeological artefacts to tell the story of Waterford's Viking heritage. Reginald's Tower is a circular defense tower built at the beginning of the 13th century and at various stages in its rich history has been used as a mint, a prison and a military store. To this day, it remains Waterford's most recognisable landmark.
Medieval Museum: Treasures of Medieval Waterford, situated between Cathedral Square and the Bishop's Palace, Waterford's latest museum is a tribute to Medieval Waterford and life in the city during that period. Carefully preserving several medieval structures within its walls. Why not come and experience the wonder of our medieval city.
